Carolyn Bourke

Author | Speaker Chaplain

In exploring the complexities of ageing and the profound changes that come with it, we consider the delicate nature of our relationships with those we love and, eventually, the grief we experience when we have to let go.

Carolyn’s stories are not just  about loss, but about the resilience of the human spirit, the beauty of life, and the enduring power of connection, even in the face of mental and physical decline. They also highlight hope – not just for the present, but also for the future.

Speaking for the Unheard

Carolyn explores topics that are too often relegated to the shadows – ageing, dementia, dying – until circumstances force us to deal with them. She brings these topics out of the shadows and into the light where we can reflect , process and dare to dream of new possibilities.

Stepping out of the shadows

Librarians and chaplains have a lot in common; they do their jobs in the background – listening, observing, supporting, encouraging and referring. Writers are also often in the background – the task of writing can be a very solitary activity. But there comes a time when the book is written and needs to make its own way in the world. Then the writer must step out of the shadows and become an author.

Carolyn wants to tackle some of the big issues of life and death, embarking on a third career that encompasses the best of all three worlds.
